Part of this post was originally part of a post talking about “Go On”, but after some thought, I decided that I wanted to have a post for each song I release. I’m moving the bit that was part of that post to it’s own and expanding on it a little.
Unlike previous releases, “Go On” and “It Feels Familiar” have been released as singles. I have thought about Volume Four being 12-14 songs long, and each of the remaining songs will be released as singles as well. Once I have all 12-14 songs done, I will compile and arrange them to be released as Volume Four. This will also be different than previous releases, which were arranged in the order I wrote them. That method led to a rather disjointed flow, and I want to release Volume Four so that it flows better.
Every single and the eventual Volume Four will continue to be free on Spotify and other streaming platforms, and as low as I can make the cost on iTunes. I do not expect anyone to actually buy my music.
While I have a stable of song ideas written for this release, they were written on guitar first. While this is how I write songs that have lyrics and vocals, finding drums that fit those is a lengthier process than putting together drums first and then writing guitar, which is how the original songs for Volumes One through Three were done. I currently have drums for 5 or 6 of the total songs, so I need to get one with doing that.
It is now my plan to use one more song from that stable and then potentially move those song ideas to Cold the Winter or Low-Fi, Nice Try songs rather than releasing them as instrumental tracks for KCWM.
While this means that the overall Volume Four release will be later than I’d like, the process of writing songs with drums as a foundation has led to three of the KCWM songs being in my top five favorite songs I’ve ever written (“Corrective Measures” from Volume Three, “The Moment it Clicks” from Volume Two, and “Go On” from the upcoming Volume Four).
I think that’s enough for now. If you have any questions or want to talk music, you can reach me via DM on Twitter, Instagram, or if we’re part of the same Discord community, you can DM me there.
